Where welding consumables sites lose the enquiry

Each of these is common, cheap to fix, and costs an enquiry that never arrives — so nobody ever reports it.

  • Classification stated without the standard it belongs to

    Classifications from different standards look similar and are not equivalent. A welding engineer cannot map an ambiguous designation into a qualified procedure.

  • Approvals mentioned without naming the approval bodies

    Codes require specific approvals. "Internationally approved" tells the engineer nothing they can put in front of an inspector.

  • No storage and re-drying guidance

    Low-hydrogen electrodes lose their classification if stored badly. Omitting the guidance suggests the hydrogen claim has not been thought through.

The ones your customers' codes actually require, each with the approval body and certificate reference. A list of logos is not usable by a welding engineer preparing a procedure, and the specific approvals are what determine whether your consumable can be used at all.

Should typical or guaranteed mechanical properties be published?

Publish typical all-weld-metal values with the test conditions, and be clear that batch certificates carry the actual results. Welding engineers understand the distinction and use typical values for selection and batch certificates for acceptance.

How much application guidance belongs on the site?

A good deal. Parameter ranges, position guidance, preheat and interpass recommendations and storage instructions are what a fabricator needs to get your consumable to perform. Suppliers who publish it get fewer complaints and more repeat orders than those who publish only a specification.
