Where turbines sites lose the enquiry

Each of these is common, cheap to fix, and costs an enquiry that never arrives — so nobody ever reports it.

  • Performance stated only at the rated point

    Plants rarely run at rated output. A single point figure cannot support a generation model and will be challenged in technical review.

  • Reference conditions not published

    Turbine output depends entirely on inlet conditions. Figures without reference conditions are not comparable between suppliers.

  • No operating reference list

    For equipment with a multi-decade life, evidence that the design runs somewhere is the primary risk answer. Its absence is disqualifying for a financed project.

How much performance data belongs in public?

Enough to model a project: output and efficiency across the range, with reference conditions stated. Developers build models before they contact suppliers, and a machine that cannot be modelled from public data is excluded before the conversation starts.

What does technical due diligence actually look for?

Evidence rather than specification. Type test results, an operating fleet in comparable duty, guarantee terms with real remedies, and a maintenance history. A lender's advisor is assessing whether the projected output is credible, not whether the machine is impressive.

How should long-term support be presented?

With commitments rather than intentions: parts availability period, service coverage, response times and what happens if the model is discontinued. An asset with a multi-decade life is bought partly on the supplier's willingness to be held to something.
