Where pumps sites lose the enquiry

Each of these is common, cheap to fix, and costs an enquiry that never arrives — so nobody ever reports it.

  • No performance curves published

    Pump selection is made from the curve. A catalogue of models without curves cannot be used by the person specifying, so it is not used at all.

  • Materials of construction not listed per component

    Fluid compatibility is decided part by part. A single material claim for the whole pump is not enough to check anything.

  • Seal arrangement not stated

    Seals cause most pump failures and most maintenance cost. Omitting the arrangement hides the part of the specification that matters most in service.

Should performance curves be public or gated?

Public. The curve is how engineers select pumps, and gating it removes you from the selection entirely — they will simply use a manufacturer whose curves they can see. There is nothing confidential in a curve; competitors already know what your pumps do.

How should seal options be presented?

Clearly, with the standard the seal conforms to and whether common seals interchange. Maintenance teams care enormously about this because it determines whether a failed pump can be repaired quickly with a stocked part or waits for a proprietary component.

What do buyers most often get wrong when selecting?

Suction conditions. A pump selected correctly on flow and head still fails if the available net positive suction head is inadequate. Publishing the required figure prominently and explaining it plainly prevents failures that would otherwise be blamed on your product.
