What does a buyer check before sourcing copper products?

They check the alloy and temper against the application, the conductivity or mechanical values where those govern, and the dimensional tolerance. Because copper price moves daily, they also check how your quote handles the metal element separately from conversion.

A buyer is comparing quotes that were priced on different days and needs to understand what is actually being compared.

Scope and specifications

Alloy grade and standard
Pure copper and the brass and bronze families behave very differently.
Temper
Determines formability and mechanical properties.
Product form
Rod, tube, strip, sheet, busbar and wire are different processes.
Conductivity
The governing property in electrical applications.
Dimensional range and tolerance
A direct filter on the enquiry.
Surface finish
Affects joining, plating and appearance.
Pricing basis
Metal element plus conversion is how the trade actually works.

Details for a useful enquiry

Alloy and temper required
Determines whether you can supply.
Form and dimensions
Drives process route and tolerance.
Quantity and call-off pattern
Copper is often bought on a schedule.
Application
Lets you flag an alloy mismatch early.
Pricing basis preferred
Fixed or metal-linked changes the offer entirely.
Delivery location and schedule
Freight and metal exposure both follow it.

Questions suppliers ask

How should we explain pricing when the metal moves daily?

Publish the mechanism rather than a price: which exchange reference is used, how conversion is added, and how long a quotation holds. Buyers are not surprised by metal volatility; they are frustrated by quotes that cannot be compared, and a clear mechanism wins on that alone.

Should conductivity values be published?

Yes, for every electrical grade, with the measurement basis. It is the property the application is designed around, and a buyer who has to ask for it will usually ask a competitor who published it instead.

Do buyers care whether we melt or only fabricate?

Some do, particularly where traceability or security of supply matters, and all of them prefer knowing. State the production route plainly; a fabricator with excellent tolerance control has a real proposition that is lost when the site pretends to be a smelter.

Check which documents and standards your buyer needs; requirements vary by market, customer and contract.
