Key Takeaway

Restrict your property site to specific pages with dedicated widgets and RFQ funnels to capture both fast bookings and slow decision makers.

A hospitality site earns its keep by minimizing the steps between initial interest and a final booking decision. You will learn the essential page structure and missing features like WhatsApp used to capture slow-decision planners.

What the site actually needs (page taxonomy)

Eight pages, no more. A hospitality site earns its keep by reducing friction between "I'm curious" and "I'm booked," and the way to do that is to make sure every page owns one job. A 47-page brochure site is a 47-page reason to drop off.

1. Home. One job: set price, set location, set availability, get to a booking widget in one click. This is the only page most guests will ever see, so it carries the hero carousel, the trust strip, the room categories, and a low-friction "Check dates and rates" form above the fold.

2. Rooms and suites, with one URL per room type. Suite, deluxe, family room, dorm. Each gets a single canonical URL with its own price-from, photo set, capacity, and booking widget. Two competing "Deluxe Room" pages cannibalize your own rankings; one beats three.

3. Amenities. Pool, spa, business centre, restaurant, airport shuttle, gym, co-working. This is also the page where FAQs and FAQPage schema earn their keep [8]. It is the page travellers ask an AI about.

4. Location and directions. Hotel address, distance to nearest airport or station, transit times, embedded Google Map, weather widget if you serve leisure markets (Goa, Phuket, Cancun). Local landing pages are the simple SEO lever most groups skip.

5. Galleries. Real photos, not stock. Phone photos in good light, retouched to look consistent. Hero galleries are a thing; honesty galleries convert better. Avoid the "professional" empty-rooms look that hides the size.

6. Reviews and ratings. TripAdvisor and Google review embeds, plus your own written case notes from corporate clients. Reviews are the most underpriced trust asset you have.

7. Booking page. This is the conversion page. Direct dates, room type, rate, taxes, optional breakfast, optional transfer, payment, confirmation. Keep the booking form to four fields on mobile: dates, guests, name, phone.

8. Contact, group bookings, RFP. One phone number, one WhatsApp link, one short group-bookings form for weddings and corporate. Treat the form as a request-for-quote (RFQ) funnel; it is one of the cheapest ways to capture slow-decision bookings from planners.

Two pages auditors often want to add but rarely earn: a "blog" that nobody reads, and an "about" page that is two paragraphs long. Add them only after the eight above pull traffic and direct bookings.

Components that convert (and the ones we kept finding missing)

We benchmarked nine competitor hospitality sites across sixteen top-level pages (the competitor benchmark). The components that show up most often are: hero carousels (44% of pages), trust strips with stats (44%), and card grids of rooms or amenities (33%). Click-to-call appears on only 22% of pages, a real-world phone number on roughly the same share, and a working RFQ funnel on just 11%. WhatsApp shows up on roughly 11%.

That last set is the gap that matters. Hospitality buyers in India and the US are both phone-first: Indian guests WhatsApp the front desk before they book, US planners call after a form. If neither path is one tap away on mobile, you are paying traffic costs and recovering nothing.

Most of these are buildable inside one Plact Factory scope (Marketing Site package, $899, 3 to 5 day delivery). The things that take longer are tours, real photo shoots, and PMS integration with your booking engine.

SEO plus AEO: the schema that gets you cited and ranked

Hospitality search has two audiences now. Google still drives most bookings, but travellers increasingly start inside an AI answer: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Google's own AI Overviews. The fix is the same idea run twice: structured data for the AI layer, classic on-page SEO for the Google layer.

Five schema types do almost all of the work, and our scan of the hospitality corpus found zero of them on the median competitor site. They are also the same five Plact ships on every Marketing Site build, manually generated as JSON-LD.

  • Organization. Name, address, logo, social profiles, contact. Confirms the hotel as an entity inside an AI knowledge graph.
  • Service. Each service you sell, with area served, provider, and a description. Use this on spa, restaurant, airport transfer, corporate stays.
  • FAQPage. Every genuinely asked question, with the actual short answer copy. Savvy's AEO checklist notes that FAQPage on its own gives roughly 3.2x lift in AI Overview appearances and a 30 to 35% lift in citation probability [8].
  • BreadcrumbList. On every interior page. Tells both Google and AI where the page sits in the site map.
  • OfferCatalog. Per Plact's pricing model, every package you sell (room rate, breakfast add-on, corporate package, wedding package) belongs in OfferCatalog so AI engines can list your pricing in answers.

Outside schema, ship an llms.txt file at the site root. The file is a short Markdown summary of the site's most important pages with one-line descriptions. llms-full.txt is the long version, the whole site in one Markdown keyhole. AI crawlers read these first to understand what your site is about, before they scrape your HTML [8].

On the SEO side, the four habits that matter for hotels: a dedicated location page per city or neighbourhood ("Hotel near T2 Mumbai airport"), one canonical URL per room type, an updated hotel sitemap with lastmod dates on rates, and a Google Business Profile linked back to the home page.

Common mistakes we keep finding on rebuilds

The standard hotel website looks fine in the desktop screenshot. On a phone at 11 pm, the same site usually falls apart.

  • Booking engine buried in nav. Recovery here is one click from any page to dates. Industry data from 2026 shows mobile visitors book at 0.5 to 1.5%, roughly a third of the 2.5 to 3.5% desktop rate [3]. If your bookings work on desktop but your mobile path is three taps longer, that gap is your lost revenue.
  • No phone, no WhatsApp. A live phone number on the home page and a WhatsApp link within thumb's reach recover late-night lookers and confused planners. Our corpus saw these on roughly 22% and 11% of pages, respectively.
  • Stock photography. Real, slightly imperfect photos of an actual room convert better than polished empty-room shots. Travellers want to know what their money gets.
  • Hidden taxes and fees. Surprise fees are the single largest driver of the 76 to 92% cart abandonment rate the travel vertical reports [4]. Show the total on the first rate screen.
  • No FAQPage schema. Hospitality is the highest-FAQ vertical on the open web. If you don't ship JSON-LD on those Q&A pairs, your competitor's site will be the one ChatGPT quotes.
  • No llms.txt. Cheap to ship, almost nobody has done it. First-mover advantage still works here.
  • Trust signals from 2019. Stale TripAdvisor badges, expired certification logos, year-old photos of the chef. Refresh every quarter, or remove them.

The rebuild plan we hand the owner is a flat list of which of these the current site fails, ranked by recoverable bookings per month.

FAQ

How long does a hotel or hospitality site rebuild take?

A Plact Factory Marketing Site ships in 3 to 5 working days once content and photos are in hand. A Web Application with booking engine and PMS integration takes 2 to 3 weeks. Hosting, domain, and code are owned by you, not held on retainer.

What does it cost?

Fixed prices. Landing Page at $399, Marketing Site at $899, Web Application above that. Every build includes a 30 day Loop trial for monthly upkeep (reviews, content, reports); if you don't want it, you cancel and keep the site.

Can you handle Indian and US sites on the same factory?

Yes. Plact currently serves businesses in the USA, UAE, UK, and India from one team. Multilingual content, dual currency display, GST and sales tax logic on payments, and dual Google Business Profiles all fit inside a Plact build.

Do I own the code?

Yes. Code, domain, and hosting are transferred to your name on delivery. The 30 day Loop trial is optional and cancellable.

Will you integrate my booking engine or PMS?

Yes. We connect to Cloudbeds, Mews, RoomKey, Opera, SiteMinder, and most channel managers via standard APIs. Custom PMS work is scoped separately.

How do I stop losing direct bookings to OTAs?

Three moves, in order: shorten the direct mobile booking path to one tap; ship a price-match promise on the booking page ("We beat Booking.com by 5% for the same dates"); publish OfferCatalog schema with clean rates so AI search surfaces you next to, not under, the OTAs. Industry data puts top-quartile direct conversion at 5 to 6%, versus the cross-vertical average of 2.5 to 3.5% [5].

What about WordPress specifically?

WordPress powers the bulk of hospitality sites, which is why Plact's AEO defaults echo the Savvy WordPress AEO checklist: schema, llms.txt, AI crawler rules, fast mobile rendering, and a single Q&A block on every amenities page [8].

About Plact

Plact builds the online presence for service businesses, then keeps it running. We work in two parts. Factory is the build: fixed price, fixed scope, your code, your domain, your hosting. Loop is the monthly upkeep: review replies, content, badge updates, monthly report, one job at a time. We currently serve HVAC, dental, legal, real estate, manufacturing, NBFC, and hospitality. Markets are USA, UAE, UK, and India.

We are not a creative agency, and we are not a SaaS dashboard. We are an operator team that takes one job, makes it measurable, and tells you what changed.

Next step is the easiest possible one. Send your current site URL and the cities or properties you want it to represent, by email or WhatsApp. We will reply with a rebuild plan and a fixed price within one working day. There is no sales call, no discovery deck, and no obligation.
