What does a buyer check before placing a private label detergent order?

They check the formulation type and actives, the performance evidence against the claims on the pack, and whether your plant can hold the pack format and volume. Private label is a claims business, so the ability to substantiate what the label says is the real qualification.

A retail buyer is deciding whether to move a private label line and needs to know the claims will survive scrutiny.

Questions suppliers ask

Who is responsible for substantiating pack claims?

Contractually it varies, but practically the manufacturer holds the data. Stating up front which claims you can evidence, and which the brand owner must support, prevents the argument that surfaces just before launch when a retailer's legal review asks for the file.

Should formulations be described in any detail publicly?

Describe the system rather than the recipe: surfactant type, whether enzymes are present, the pH range, the concentration level. That is enough for a buyer to judge fit and far short of anything a competitor could replicate.

How specific should private label capability be on the site?

Specific to the point of numbers: fill sizes, pack formats, minimum order quantity per SKU and typical lead time from approved artwork. Those four figures decide almost every private label enquiry, and publishing them removes the enquiries that were never viable.

Check which documents and standards your buyer needs; requirements vary by market, customer and contract.
